Festive Sushi Kids Will Love

Festive Sushi Kids will love for any New Year's Celebratiion

Festive Sushi kids will love

is a fun way to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

Festive Sushi kids will love is my kid preferred version doesn’t smell weird to the kiddos.

Sushi that the kiddos will devour!

As a matter of fact, they will be asking for seconds and maybe thirds.

I tested it out on my 9 year church class and they devoured and wanted more.  So there it is, a Kid approved sushi.

This is what I did to make it a Festive Sushi kids will love.

Make a double of batch of rice krispy treats.  Everyone knows the recipe by heart

but just in case you don’t, here it is.

1/2 cup butter

2 pkg of 10 oz mini marshmallows

1 tsp vanilla

12-13 cups rice cereal

Melt the butter over low in a heavy skillet. For extra flavor I like to brown the butter just a bit.  I promise it doesn’t taste browned. It just adds an amazing depth of flavor that I adore.

Once the butter is melted add the marshmallows and stir over low heat. Don’t cook just melt the marsmallow.

(I made the mistake years ago by cooking the mixture and the treats turned into rock-like treats. That know one enjoyed…. except maybe the dentist that fixed your teeth after attempting to eat my fail.)

Stir in the vanilla and then  remove from heat and stir in the cereal until it is coated completely with the marshmallow gooyness.

At this point press it into a greased large baking sheet. Cut and roll the rice krispy mixture into a roll about 2 inch in diameter

(visualize the size of a Sushi Hand Roll and use that as your guide.)

Now that you have roll of rice krispy it is time to put on the seaweed (fruit rollups)

I used a full package of 10 to coat the cereal completely. Overlap if needed to cover the roll.  If you can find green fruit rollups it would be a total fake-out for the kids.  I used red because that is the only flavor the store I shopped at had in stock.

Cut the fruit roll up covered roll into 3/4 inch thickness to resemble the hand rolls.  Once they are all cut. Cut a slight slit in the top of the rice crispy and add a Swedish Fish onto the top.

Very sweet and a bit over the top but I can guarantee that the Kids will love it. This is what they will do! Eat the fish from the top first, then peel the fruit rollup around the edge and then chomp on the rice krispy center.

This a fun dessert for any New Year’s Eve Celebration! Try it for 2016.
