Bacon Whole Grain Granola Bars

Bacon whole grain granola bars featured in foodie extravaganza

 Welcome to the Foodie Extravaganza!

My recipe combines oats, whole grains and delicious bacon and anti-oxidant rich dark chocolate.

Bacon Whole Grain Granola Bars

Make them either soft and chewy or crispy. Either way you will love them. Every pan of Bacon Whole Grain Granola Bars is instantly devoured.

I love the fact that they are full of whole grains and anti-oxidant rich ingredients. Don’t let all the whole grains goodness full you into thinking they have No Flavor. Trust me they are off the delicious flavor chart.

Everyone loves bacon! Everyone loves chocolate! Everyone will love this recipe that combines both. You will adore Bacon Whole Grain Granola Bars. As you make your resolution to eat healthy this year make sure you don’t give up on flavor. Bacon whole grain granola bars are a healthy way to eat better and not lose out on flavor.

Bacon Whole Grains Granola Bar

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups raw rolled oats
1 cup diced pecans
1/2 cup raw pumpkin seeds
1/4 cup raw shelled sunflower seeds
3 tsp maple flavoring
1/2 cup raw honey
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup seeded chopped fresh dates
1/2 cup rough chopped dark chocolate
1 cup diced bacon bits

Instructions

Place oats, pecans and pumpkin seeds on a large baking dish and toast in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
In a small saucepan combine maple flavoring, honey, coconut oil brown sugar and salt. Dissolve sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil and boil mixture for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
In a large bowl add grains mixture and pour the syrup mixture over the grains. Combine. Add dates, 1/2 of chocolate and bacon bits and mix together. Spread into a foil lined baking dish and press. You will want it to pack together. While still warm top with remaining chocolate pieces and place back in the oven for 5 minutes. Allow to cool before cutting into pieces.

Notes

Cook longer if you want the bars to be crisper.

I’ve never baked with bacon before but I can imagine the saltiness of it gives these bars great flavour.

It has huge depths of flavor. Bacon adds a smoky saltiness and the chocolate just adds the yum.

WOW. Just, wow with the bacon! I actually typed in “Wow” instead of my name there because both words are three letters and I was so preoccupied. So yes 😉 awesome share.

    I love salty/sweet combo..so this sounds great..and, who doesn’t like bacon!
And, I love oatmeal too. Especially overnight steel cut with berries and nuts. For Savory uses of oatmeal my fave way right now is my copycat recipe for White Castle burgers with oats..so so good.

Just like Camilla … you had me at bacon!

I love bacon and chocolate together, but never thought to combine them in this way … and the granola bar just may be the best vehicle for both these things!

These sound interesting. I love things that are sweet and salty at the same time and who doesn’t love bacon and chocolate.
