5 Step Food Storage Plan

Food storage for everyday use is easy. Just store what you use . Seems Simple…Right?

It really is if you follow my 5 step plan

These steps are simple enough that anyone can do it.  Even children can help label, store and select.

Easy Steps to Storage Success

1- Mark everything that is stored with a month/ year using a sharpie pen on the labels white space. Don’t cover up anything important.

2- Put new items behind older items. This will make sure that you use the oldest stuff first. Because it is written by YOU it stands out.

3- Track how often you use an item during a year and stock up accordingly.

4- Buy on sale the exact number of items used every year.

5 -Check your pantry, food storage before heading to the grocery store. Helps you use up what you have.

It also helps remind you of what you need to buy.

Example: I use 1 box of tall kitchen bags from Costco once a year.  For me a year’s storage on this item =1 box.

I started using this method because my sister-in-law did.  Over the years it has helped me budget, save money and cook from what I store. The reason for its success, in my humble opinion is that is soo very easy to do.

Every time you put away groceries mark it, store it  and then use it.

Buy food when it is on sale. Because you know exactly how many you use in any given year. Never run out of a pantry item ever.
